Crew Chief Training
Weatherization Crew Chief trains new and experienced individuals with the skills and knowledge necessary to be a safe, competent, and productive leader of a weatherization crew. Using the DOE curriculum as a standard the training includes weatherization competencies, lead safe work practices, basic codes, crew safety, productivity skills, knowledge of increased opportunities and leadership skills needed to be a crew chief. This comprehensive course introduces participants to the basics of building science and the complex ways buildings and their systems interact with each other and the outside environment. Fee $0

30 Hour Wastewater Treatment
This entry-level course provides a solid foundation and builds on knowledge about wastewater sources and characteristics, math, hydraulics, lift stations, low measurement, preliminary and primary treatment and much more. This course, along with six months experience will satisfy the eligibility requirement for Iowa DNR Wastewater Treatment Grade I. This course is also a good review for anyone planning to take the Wastewater Treatment Grade II exam. Hands on application of math using real data is a key feature of this course. Textbooks include: California State University at Sacramento Operation of Wastewater Treatment Plants Volumes 1 and 2. Bring a calculator, your NPDES Permit, and a recent monthly operating report. Cosmetology
The Iowa Board of Cosmetology requires two hours of law. All IWCC continuing ed classes will contain one hour of law, but if you have hours from another source that did not include law, or if you are out of sequence for the two hours that you need, we are providing an independent home-study course consisting of a booklet and test, which we will send you. You will have three weeks to study the booklet and send the completed test back to us for grading. Upon passing, you will be sent a certificate awarding two hours of Law and Rules.
