These two hour courses will fulfill the training requirement for mandatory reporters within six months of your hire date or self-employment in a specific occupation. Thereafter, you must complete at least two hours of dependent adult and child abuse training every five years.

Iowa Western Community College online platform is called Angel Learning. Angel requires you to use Firefox 2.0 or above with Silverlight installed, or Internet Explorer 7 or above with Windows Media player 10 or above. Once you register and pay the course fee (registration slip at the back of this booklet), you’ll be emailed a username and password with instructions on logging into Student Academic Information Link, SAIL. Take the course and pass the post test with a minimum score of 80%. As long as you’ve passed before your deadline, which is 48 hours, we’ll email you a certificate.

Step 1
Register and pay for the Online Dependent Adult Abuse Course for Mandatory Reporters or the Online Child Abuse Identification for Mandatory Reporters. You may register by phone, fax or in person. We will collect the same data used for a traditional face to face class but we will also need your email address. Payment methods include cash, credit card, or money order.
Step 2
Iowa Western Community College will email a username and password to the email address you have provided to our staff. The user name and password is unique for each person registering for the course, so you will be the only one who will receive credit for this course under this user name and password.
Step 3
Upon successful completion of the course, Iowa Western Community College will email a certificate to you.
