Electrical Continuing Education

National Electrical Code courses are provided throughout the year for companies and employees who are required to meet state guidelines requiring no less than 18 Continuing Education Credits (CEUs) every three years, with at least 6 credits being National Electrical Code Updates.

2017 NEC CODE CHANGES

The major changes that effect most electricians including MAJOR CHANGES in Residential, Commercial and Industrial installations will be covered. This course has been approved by the Iowa and Nebraska State Electrical Boards for 6 hours of Electrical Code. Instructor is Herb Ogden, Master Electrician. Fee $199

2017 NFPA 70E ARC FLASH

The need for proper equipment and what level of Personal Protective Equipment is needed will be covered. It will also show the results of people who were not properly geared and had serious injuries and even death. This is a 3 hour course approved by the state of Iowa for CEU hours. BOX FILL

Teaches proper sizing of raceways, pull boxes, device boxes and conductor counting and reductions using article 314 and Chapter 9 tables, notes and annex. (Box fill rules are one of the most misapplied rules.) This is a 2 hour course approved by the state of Iowa for CEU hours. Instructor is Herb Ogden, Master Electrician. Fee $69

GROUNDING AND BONDING

Article 250 including service and equipment grounding and bonding, grounding electrode systems, intersystem bonding, conductor sizing from table 250.66, 250.102C and 250.122 will be covered. Step and touch potential dangers are covered as well as many other obscure rules regarding grounding and bonding. This is a 4 hour course approved by the state of Iowa for CEU hours. PHOTOVOLTAIC SYSTEMS

All the installation rules for PV (SOLAR) system installations will be covered. It includes conductor, overcurrent protection and disconnecting means installation rules. These are different than regular electrical installations especially the conductor sizing and overcurrent sizing and locations. It also deals with the multiple labeling rules.
